The Most Recent New York Decision on Same-Sex Marriage

As most of you have already read, Justice Doris Ling-Cohan recently ruled that the  New York City Clerk’s refusal to issue marriage certificates to same-sex partners is unconstitutional.  You can find the lengthy decision in Hernadez v. Robles (.pdf version) here thanks to  rawprint.com.  The decretal paragraph of the decision is quite interesting in how it states how to read New York’s Domestic Relations Law.

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg states that he wants to appeal straight to the  New York Court of Appeals: see this article in the New York Times (subscription needed).
