Professor Michael Hutter has graciously allowed "New York Civil Law" to reprint this piece (Download reflections_on_judge_jasen.doc) on Judge Matthew Jasen, who recently passed away.  I encourage you to take the time to read Professor Hutter’s reflections.  Professor Hutter was Judge Jasen’s law clerk at the New York Court of Appeals.  The piece provides a rare look into the life of an amazing person who also happened to sit on the highest Court of New York.  Judge Jasen’s legacy at the Court was palpable while I clerked there, and no doubt, as Professor Hutter points out, will impact many more long into the future.
