I’m a couple of days late on this one, but the New York State Commission on Judicial Nomination released a list Thursday of seven people nominated to fill a vacancy created by Judge Rosenblatt’s retirement on the New York Court of Appeals (see article here in Buffalo Business First). The nominees are:
Richard Andrias, Associate Justice of the Appellate Division, 1st Department, of state Supreme Court;
George Carpinello, a partner in the Albany law firm of Boies Schiller & Flexner;
Steven Fisher, Associate Justice of the Appellate Division, 2nd Department;
Theodore Jones Jr., a state Supreme Court Justice in Kings County;
Thomas Mercure, Associate Justice of the Appellate Division, 3rd Department;
Juanita Bing Newton, a Court of Claims Judge and the state’s deputy chief administrative judge for justice initiatives; and
James Yates, a Supreme Court Justice in New York County.
